The Hatfield Bike Unit was founded in 1998. In the beginning, the unit consisted of three officers utilizing two bicycles. Over the past few years, the unit has grown to four officers and four bicycles. The unit operates from April through October and the bike’s stealthy agility helps the officers patrol the community from a closer vantage point. The bikes are used for routine residential/business patrols, crowd control, and special events.
