With crowds of people at the attractions, exhibits and booths surrounding them, and rock and roll music on stage from Flamin' Dick and the Hot Rods, 150 contestants vied for a Top 25 trophy in the car show areas of Hatfield Township's 12th Annual Rocktoberfest. Presented by the Township Parks and Recreation Board and sponsored by TD Bank, the festival provided the community with plenty of things to see and do on the parking lots, sidewalks and grounds of event site host Sequoia Out Back in the Snyder Square Shopping Center, Saturday, October 1.

The Top 25 Show attracted contestants with vehicles ranging from a 1916 T Ford Speedster to a brand new Chevy Camaro. More wheels were in position at the Hatfield Speedway Reunion's exhibit of vintage midget cars, racecars and sprint cars. Colmar and Hatfield volunteer fire companies added their wheels to the mix, and if all those wheels weren't enough, the event also had its family-favorite tractor-pulled wagon and, new this year, the Montgomery County Bookmobile.

For car show contestants, the day began at 8:30 am with check in and registration. While volunteers helped the Township parks and recreation board bring 150 vehicles into position, nearly two dozen non-profit community groups and small business owners arrived on site with all the trappings needed to host interesting activities and booths. Remarkably, all fell into place by 11:30 a.m., when soloist Scott France officially opened the event to the public with a performance of the National Anthem.

In addition to TD Bank and Sequoia Out Back, another 15 sponsors in business and industry contributed to the success of the event with cash donations or key items needed within the festival layout. The North Penn High School Key Club and several citizen volunteers assisted the parks board in the work involved in presenting the event.

At their post-event critique a few days after the event, Parks Board planners shared their ideas on how to streamline logistics and plan for growth. Time of year and event location hold firm, so Rocktoberfesters are advised to save Saturday, October 6, 2012, for the 13th Annual celebration.
