The Fire Marshal’s office will investigate the origin and & cause of all fires that occur in Hatfield Township. The Fire Marshal is responsible for the inspection of fire protection equipment and compliance with fire preventions regulations in commercial and industrial buildings, places of assembly, schools, institutions and multiple family dwellings. The Fire Marshal is also responsible for administering the Fire Codes adopted by the township.
Fire Marshal’s office is responsible for the following:
Review and approve fire protection plans
Review and approve site plans
Inspect public occupancies
Inspect industrial and commercial occupancies
Regulate fire zones
Take all calls regarding fire and safety matters
Track false alarms/Issue citations
Regulate and approve smoke detector installations
Investigate fires within the township
Control HAZMAT storage and handling
Initiate industrial training where possible
Inspect sprinkler and fire alarm installations
Regulate fire drills in schools
Enforce all Township adopted fire codes
A Permit is Required for the Following:
The installation of any new fire suppressions and detection systems or modification to any existing fire suppression system. (Wet & Dry Sprinkler Systems, Clean Agent and Dry Chemical Systems, Commercial Range Hood Suppression Systems, etc.)
The installation of any new fire detection system and modifications to existing fire detection systems (excluding single-family dwellings)
Emergency Management and Planning The Township’s Emergency Management and Planning Agency’s (EMAP) mission is to design and maintain a comprehensive plan to prepare for, respond to, mitigate and recover from all types of major emergencies that could occur in the township, both natural and man made.
