2012 Aquatic Center Seasonal Employment

Lifeguard Staff
General Purpose
            The lifeguard staff is responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies. Enforcement of all aquatic center policies, rules and regulations is a key part of this position. Expected hours per week 25 - 35
Lifeguard Captains will be selected from this group to provide leadership to their designated squad.

Supervisor –Deck Manager, Deck Supervisor

Example of Duties

• Recognize and respond quickly and effectively in emergencies
• Provide first aid and/or emergency care as required
• Assess swimming abilities of patrons for access to restricted areas
• Enforce AC policies, rules and regulations
• Report any unsafe conditions or equipment to a supervisor
• Complete records and reports
• Participate in in-service training
• Work with staff from other departments to maintain a clean, safe environment
• Perform related duties as required

Certifications

• Lifeguarding, CPR-AED for Lifeguarding & First Aid required

Supervisor – Aquatics Manager, Public Relations & Program Supervisor

Example of Duties

• Teach/Lead participants in a particular program
• Provide gentle yet firm teaching for skills progression
• Assess mastery of skills being taught
• Complete records and reports

Certifications

• Aquatic/Fitness certification preferred for exercise class instructors
