Assisting Individuals with Special Needs The L.O.C.A.T.E. program assists endangered or special needs individuals who may be lost or separated from their loved ones. Information gathered through L.O.C.A.T.E. allows officers responding to a found or missing person call to more quickly reunite someone with family or caregivers.
L.O.C.A.T.E. focuses on citizens with special needs, such as those with:
Autism
Down Syndrome
Impaired hearing
Language barriers
Alzheimer’s and related dementia disorders
Register with L.O.C.A.T.E.
To register with the L.O.C.A.T.E. program, a parent, guardian, or caregiver should visit the police department with the special needs person. A photograph will be taken and a registration form filled out. If you prefer, you may download a form and complete it out ahead of time.
For more information, contact Chief Mark A. Toomey or Sgt. Michael Diamond at 215-855-0903.
